"horrible experience left to feel ashamed!"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

I was taken to a+e staff were rude, judged and unprofessional. Never written a review before but felt so strongly and upset about the way in which i was spoken down to, left to leave home with a tube in my arm I had to walk back into reception and ask for this to be removed and staff rolling their eyes to each other when I asked for something to be ill in and had no option but to be ill in a sink (i thought this would be better than the floor). I apologized when i was ill, I was not aggressive or rude in any way but was left feeling ashamed. The hospital was filthy and staff spoke about me as if i wasn't in the room, or signed and shook their head when i was unable to answer questions straight away. Although this was because a tube was placed down my throat and my throat was sore. The doctor/nurse could see i was trying to answer but was a little slow they just wanted to get rid of me whilst I sat in silence and they could not make this more obvious they did not try to hide this. In a+e the doctor/nurse who came in to take my blood was very aggressive and angry. i also asked for my Husband to leave the room for some privacy as the doctor came into the room and started firing angry questions at me with not one bit of tactfulness. I would like to add however the Crisis Team were much more professional and had a genuine patient care approach. I appreciate the NHS is under pressure but i was disgusted that some of the staff were allowed to speak to patients this way their is no excuse. I would also like to add that the way they dealt with me could have led to further damage. Also i was taken to a room and the door was left open. The nature of the conversation was sensitive and i had to ask for the doctor to close the door as it was inappropriate for other patients and staff to be able to look in and listen. I was very upset, in pain and made to feel like a common criminal or a drunk. I was unable to be honest to staff because of their standoffish and unprofessional approach i needed help and felt let down. I would not like to comment for the other staff in the hospital as that would be unfair or for all the staff in a+e but if a friend or family member needed to go to a+e i would suggest Pontefract.
