"Do not visit as NHS"

About: Beaumont Hospital

Treated like second class citizen . Went in for MRSA check was shouted from corridor and taken in back store room for check wasn't even asked did I need to wash my hands after having to rub swab between my top of my leg . Day of operation the reception was chaos not a good environment at all. Was informed by the porter ( a very nice person) that as a NHS patient I was going to be in a shared room and that my wife would not be allowed in the room . However on letter I received from hospital I was informed that I should be accompanied. I was very nervous about the operation and as it was 8n a very private area I took a lot of comfort from knowing that my wife would be in room before and after . At this point I informed the nice porter that I couldn't have operation if my wife wasn't in the room. The porter went off and tried to sort something. Then returned and had a room however room smelled of gloss paint and was cold . A person came to sort my blood pressure check etc . I did get the impression that I was being made to realise that I'm a NHS patient and shouldn't expect private treatment and at this point was that stressed I decided to walk out hospital and not have operation. The person did do their very best to.talk me round however at this point I was too stressed to continue was informed that if I walked I wouldn't be allowed in The Beamont for any other treatment. However this was not backed up when the surgeon came to see me. In future I will never go to a private hospital as NHS as it's made clear not private I will attend the General hospital.
