"A&E staff should be ashamed"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Never, in my life, will I set foot into the DGH again, in particular the A&E department. The staff treated me absolutely appallingly. They mocked my mental health condition and said "she's back again", when I could hear them! Treated me with no respect and obviously had very poor patient skills. I urge anyone reading this, especially those with mental health problems or in a vulnerable position to never set foot within the department. I am training to be a nurse now and will make sure I never treat my patients as poorly or with as little respect as this hospital did. No wonder the NHS has such a bad reputation. To be treated as I was by those in charge of people at their most vulnerable is disgusting. The staff don't care and have no respect for their patients.

We're concerned to read about your bad experience of staff when you attended the Accident and Emergency department at Eastbourne DGH. We take your comments very seriously and have immediately forwarded them to the Head of Nursing for Urgent Care. We would be keen to speak to you to ascertain what happened in more detail to enable us to look into this further. If you are willing to do this, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will liaise with trust staff and make these arrangements. We sincerely apolgise for the fact that your experience was poor and we hope that you feel able to contact us.
