"length of time in A&E in waiting room with..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

Arrived at A&E at 7.50pm with my 42 year old daughter rolling around with pain. Waited to see Nurse for 2hrs had a pain killer then sent back to A&E waiting room for another 2 1/2 hrs called to doctor who took notes (still in pain) after another two hours sent for a CT scan then back to A&E waited another 2 1/2 hours then called back to confirm it is appendix . Sent back to A&E waiting room which was full. Handed over to surgical team then back to A&E finally called again about 430am thank goodness to an ani room so at last she could lie down then I left at 5am to go home and my daughter still waiting for a ward. Forgot between 12-14hrs had a cannula put in but surely why couldn't she go in an anti room with a bed when she has so much pain and crying in a full A&E waiting room so was back and forth for 9 hours yes 9 hours is this the right way to go in 2015 I expected my daughter to be treated much better. Operation and care good but this A&E waiting room was a very bad experience

We apologise for the delay when in our A&E Department. We are experiencing extremely high levels of patients attending A&E. Best wishes to you and your daughter - The Patient Experience Team
