" I just want to get well and back to work"

About: Liverpool PCT

(as the patient),

I have been having back problems and terrible pain since May 2009 which has been diagnosed as sciatica. Every time I need to make an appointment at my surgery, Claremont Medical Centre I am told that there are no appointments available and that I have to call at 8.00am in the morning and 1.00pm to get an emergency appointment. I did get an appointment and the doctor just prescribed me with morphine which completely knocked me out. I tried to get another appointment to change my medication, again it was difficult. I eventually went to see another doctor who took me off the morphine and told me to just keep going to the physiotherapy which I have been doing. However, my physiotherapist said I need pain killers to help with the pain. In desperation I went to A&E and they gave me diazepam but I still need pain tablets. I am now trying to get another appointment with my doctor to get a strong pain killer. I am so desperate, in pain and need help. I just want to get well and back to work. Why does it seem to be so difficult to get a general appointment and treated with the correct medication?
