"Skin rash"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I have been suffering with a skin rash for the last 15 months and rather than improving after being seen by a consultant it is getting far worse. It only affects my face ( it did affect my hands badly but they have now claered up ) but at times my face is so painful like a burn I find it difficult to speak, eat etc. I work so it makes it really embarassing to be seen it is distressing and extremely embarrasing. I have never suffered with any skin condition and neither have any of my family. It takes a matter of a day or two to flare up and weeks to try and settle it back down each time takes longer. Firstly I was told it was psorasis now apparently its dermatitis. I have had blood tests, patch testing which was a joke. . Rather than trying to find out the cause of the problem I have been fobbed off with prescriptions to mask it - sometimes 4 items on a prescription at one time so pretty costly. Any petrochemicals creams make it worse. I feel my consultant hasnt got a clue and rather than ask for a further opinion - I did pay to see an immunologist in September who advised a course of action that has hasnt happened yet ) we just keep going round in circles but meanwhile I am getting worse and worse rather than better. I have now had to almost beg my GP to refer me preferably to Nottingham QMC ....

Dear reviewer, We are sorry to hear about your on-going skin rash, it sounds painful and like it is having a big impact on your life. We do take all patient concerns very seriously, and I know the service will be disappointed to hear you are unsatisfied with your care. I hope you can appreciate that it is difficult for us to respond with a more specific detail at this stage as you have posted this anonymously and not named the consultant involved. We have forwarded this onto the Dermatology Service Manager, but also encourage you to contact us at communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk with further details (such as your name, DOB, address and the consultants name) so we can pass this onto the right people to be investigated further. Kind regards Laura Mort Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
