The level of care & expertise from surgical team & Nursing staff on I.C.U. Was excellent, truly shows the best of the NHS. It's a pity the same level of care & consistency doesn't follow up when you get to Beech ward. The ward always seemed to have plenty of staff on duty but were adept at ignoring the patient call button for help to the point where a relative phoned the ward desk to inform them that said patient had being buzzing for over 10 mins for assistance. This ignoring of the buzzer happened consistently everyday the patient was on the ward, is this the rule for every patient or only for patients that are elderly! Patient also complained to staff about this and was told that the call buttons were out of action and waiting for maintenance, really I don't think so, just their particular call button and for over a week. Next I'd like to bring attention to staff who clean the ward, who are responsible for keeping the ward environment healthy. Who taught you how to clean? Who supervises to see if they are doing the job well & correctly? Cleanliness I thought would be paramount in this setting. My relatives bed table was not once cleaned properly, you could rub your finger over the surface and feel the grime! Disgusting!
