"Missing notes, no beds and poor communication"

let me start with a possitive, the staff in the elective day surgery are lovely, they go the extra mile to look after you and are so friendly and open. the brightlingsea ward nurses are just as nice but there is just something extra special in the nurses in the elective care at the time I stayed. Now on a more serious note there is no communication between departments, there are no beds after surgery in a longer stay ward and there is a lack of communication between patients and staff and they even lost my notes. I went in for a thyroid surgery and had to go to the elective day centre to have the procedure done even though I was going to stay overnight. I waited from 11am after my surgery till 9pm to get a bed in Brightlingsea ward but only for them to not get my note and nearly miss my breakfast the next morning. I was up and about eating and drinking within 2 hours taking no pain killers, the only thing I had wrong was a drain. Little did I know that this was going to be the reason why I stayed 2 extra days in hospital than i needed to taking up a bed which someone else i felt should have had. No one the first night looked at how much had drained and so the next morning I was told by the doctor on his round it looked a bit too much wait until the afternoon and so I waited a different doctor came round later looked at it and said it had drained too much more than the morning so you will have to stay in. There had been no extra drainage and even had a picture but still they kept me in. this happened for the next 2 mornings but it hadnot drained any more than the first night and was still being told that I could not go home despite insisting that it had not drained anymore and I was not taking any painkillers could eat and drink fine. Eventually I was told i could go home so many day later than I was expecting and wanting with nothing wrong with me and not getting very much communication from the doctors. This situation was made much worse when they lost my notes not once, not twice but 3 times and every time it came to handover none of the nurses knew what was wrong with me and I had to keep explaining the procedure i had had done
