I was referred by my GP to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital after being unwell for about 18 months, during which I had to have 4 pints of blood transferred at Fazakerley Hospital. I had a number of tests and eventually was diagnosed as having a kidney tumour. After heart tests I needed a temporary pacemaker before my operation. If I had been royalty, I couldn’t have had better treatment, especially from my surgeon; but also all the hospital staff. Then I was still not well and after having a camera down; the decision was taken to remove part of my stomach. Again, wonderful surgeon, hospital staff and treatment. I am an 83 year old woman and cannot express how lucky I am to be here and entitled to the wonderful NHS. I am so grateful for all the care and nursing I had, all due to being transferred by my GP to hospital; and the excellent treatment I received. I now have a permanent pacemaker fitted.
