I am currently 24 weeks pregnant. After not feeling my baby move for nearly 2 days I went to Triage in maternity. I was seen by a nurse whose name will be etched in my memory forever as a midwife who has no compassion or understanding. As soon as I entered the room they didn't ask me anything other than to inform me I shouldn't be there. I was informed by the midwife that this was for women "over 26 weeks, that's women over 26 weeks not 25 weeks and 6 days" Just incase I was unsure of their meaning. I informed the midwife that my consultant had told me to come. They listen to my belly for seconds. I didn't even hear the baby's heartbeat and the midwife said you can go it's fine. I didn't feel reassured as I didn't hear anything and they offered no explanation. At this point I asked if they could check if a relative was working today. As soon as they knew who my relative was the midwife completely changed attitude towards me. My argument is that my care should not depend on who I know. Every person deserves to be seen and given a good standard of care which I didn't receive. I now live in Wolverhampton and had chosen Walsall Manor as previously I have received a good standard of care. The treatment I received today made me question my judgement. The midwife showed no compassion or empathy I felt like I was just taking up their time.
"uncompationate and lacking in empathy"
