"Colonoscopy"

About: St James's University Hospital

(as the patient),

Having had a very bad experience at St James's hospital whose endoscopic department tends to run like a factory production line and no real regard for my concerns about adequate pain relief despite these being recorded in my clinical notes (which were not read on the day) I could only hope that Eccleshill would not operate in the same way.

I am glad to report that Dr Preston and her team could not have been more helpful to me and for the first time I had a pain free experience. Dr Preston is a superb endoscopist who I would recommend to anyone visiting the centre.

The nursing team were extremely friendly and put me at my ease and it was obvious there is a good team within the Endoscopy Unit.

Having a colonoscopy is not a pleasant experience normally. In this case I hardly felt a thing and got instant feedback on what they had seen in my bowel which thankfully was normal. There was also due care in protecting patient modesty which was much appreciated.
