"Change should be for improvement"

About: Solihull Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

A couple of years ago I was invited by local GP (Blythe Practice Knowle Solihull) for a blood test which was carried out locally at the surgery. The system has now changed which requires that to have a blood test you go to Solihull Hospital. This I did the other day.

First problem, car parking. The car park was full and there was a wait until a space became available.

Second problem. A wait before the blood test could be done. As a consequence there was a parking charge of £2. 75.

So whilst I am not against change, clearly to take away from my local surgery the ability to carry out blood tests has lowered the standard of service to us as your clients. Surely changes should be for an improvement in services.

I am sorry that the service did not live up to your expectations.

Although Heart of England provide the new service, the decision to move it from your local surgery was made by Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group, so can I suggest you contact them at solihull.ccg@nhs.net
