"Unsatisfactory Communication"

About: James Paget University Hospital

I cannot find a page for the Breast Imaging department, so am having to post under General Medicine. In 2008 I had breast cancer, requiring an operation and radiotherapy. Since then I have had to have regular mammograms, which have obviously been stressful given my history. I attended for my latest mammo on 24th February, so well over 2 weeks ago. The staff were as always lovely, but I haven't received any results yet. The NHS website says these should be within 2 weeks, but even if they arrive Monday it will only be one day short of 3 weeks. As I have had breast cancer in the past, I would have thought the results should be posted to me as a priority, as they should be to anyone who has a history of breast cancer. I do not feel able to ring up, as if I was given bad news I would go to pieces on the phone. Why are the results taking so long?

I am so sorry to see your comments. I can appreciate that it is very difficult to wait for results. I understand why you don't want to call, but if you were able to email our Patient Advice and Liaison Team direct I am sure they could ask the team to consider for you, but I hope by now the results have been received. They can be contacted through our website at this link http://www.jpaget.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/patient-advice-liaison-service-(pals)-and-complaints/contact-us/ Ann Filby, Head of Communications
