"Unacceptable patient care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I accompanied a friend to accident emergency following her being sexually assaulted. The doctor refused to examine her, saying that even though she didn't want to report it to the police she was 'a crime scene' and then proceeded to tell her how she had caused the incident by being drunk. Given that my friend was already distressed due to the cause of her injuries I find this wholely inappropriate behaviour and I feel like they compromised her emotional safety.

We are naturally concerned to read your email and would welcome the opportunity to speak to the patient concerned directly, should they choose to do so. We are unable to respond to any enquiries regarding individual patients without consent from individuals (or in some cases their family/carers) to do so. We would therefore ask, please, that they contact our PALS Team on 0800 183204 or email PALS@nuh.nhs.uk if they wish us to investigate their concerns further.
