"XRay Department"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

I visited the XRay department on the 2nd floor of the hospital today, my appointment was early in the morning and I was shocked at the filthy state of the waiting room floor. It was covered in mud, bits of food and who knows what else. It was a disgrace. I was taken to the XRay unit and left in another waiting room, whilst sat there I saw a steady stream of staff going in and out of the "control room" surely this must be distracting for those conducting the scans? I also saw a student nurse who felt it appropriate to weigh herself twice in front of patients and another nurse came in putting on a silly walk. Normally staff speak to you whilst they are conducting the scan to reassure you telling you how many more scans they have to do and checking that you are ok. I was spoken to once despite making staff aware that I found the experience difficult. I felt the behaviour of some of the staff was unprofessional and let down the hospital and their colleagues as did the standard of cleanliness in the waiting room. I may have to go in for an operation and the experience today does not fill me with confidence.

Thank you for your feedback; Im very sorry to hear of the concerns you have about your attendance. I will share these with the management team responsible for Radiology so they are aware of your concerns; if you would like to speak to a senior member of staff about your experience, please send your contact details to our email account, patientservices.dept@worcsacute.nhs.uk and we can arrange this for you - we want to make sure you feel confident and assured about your care going forward, Regards
