"Waiting time"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

In September 2014 I had an MRI scan in Dumfries Infirmary. I was referred to Edinburgh Western later that month. I have never been officially informed of result of MRI but found out myself from local Doctors/Nurses that I had Spinal stenosis.

In january it seems an appointment was sent to me but it seems it was sent to an address 3 miles from my home address? ? ? Again no official word or apology...From my MRI scan to this day I have never received any letters/phone calls about my results or treatment needed.

I must point out that I live quite far from Dumfries and most of my appointments are in Dumfries (75 miles away)! I had an appointment at the Pain clinic in Dumfries recently and was finally officially told I had spinal stenosis.

The Doctor said they will give me an injection in my spine to relief the pain, only problem was it was to be in the next 6 WEEKS. True to form I got an appointment ! ! a total of 10 WEEKS away.

From my scan until recently it was been 26 weeks! ! (a mockery of the 18 weeks waiting time).

My injection is a while away so if I get that far it will be over 30 weeks. My main complaint is the complete lack of information from anybody to inform me of any progress/treatment.

As to why an appointment was sent to an unknown address 3 miles away I will never know as EVERY letter etc always come to my address in my NHS details. My whole experience has been a nightmare. When I saw the Consultant who i saw in summer last year. The consultant sent me for an MRI scan. The consultant said they had seen me 6 YEARS ago for the same condition.
