"Why am I still waiting???"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I was admitted into hospital on 1/3/15 following a car crash where I broke my right hand shoulder. After 7 hours, I was told I'd need an operation to take place on the 2nd March and I was to wait for a phone call. I rang into the hospital on the 2/3/15 after receiving no information with regards to what time or place I need to be for my operation to take place, only to be told that I haven't been booked in and that I would need to attend a "clinic appointment" on the 4/3/15. On 3/3/15 I went back to A and E with a chest infection. The large, elderly, slightly aggressive looking triage nurse in A and E was so rude and arrogant, and didn't seem to care what I was saying about the pain/discomfort I was suffering from as long as the nurse was able to fill out their paperwork. I don't think this nurse realised they are employed to help people, not make people feel worse. I then spent over an hour waiting for my prescription to become ready-the reason I was given for the delay was because the "robot was picking your order"-what an earth does that even mean? What are all the employed humans doing? So many other patients were waiting for the same reason. All that happened on the 4/3/15 was my existing sling was swapped for a more uncomfortable sling and I was given treatment/medication for MRSA which I was advised is normal pre-operation practice. I was then told that someone will contact me as to when my operation will take place. After not hearing anything for a further 2 x days, I rang in and spoke to admissions who then advised me that my operation will take place on Wednesday afternoon 11/3/15 and I will be contacted closer to the time. Today I have received a call advising me that my operation will now not take place until Saturday the 14/03/15 and that this date is not guaranteed. When I asked why am I being messed around and what am I supposed to tell my employer with regards to what's happening, I was advised that the Bolton hospital schedules their operations on a emergency/priority basis. I had previously been told I could've had my operation sooner where I live in Birmingham but I was discouraged from doing this on the 4/3/15 as this might have caused a delay in having my operation with the transfer from one hospital to another. I wish I would have got my transfer request in on the 1st of March to have my operation in Birmingham instead of being messed around like this. I don't understand why I am not a priority after patiently waiting around for a week and a half of being on heavy drugs for pain relief since I have had my injury. I feel really sorry for those people out there who unfortunately haven't got any friends/family to support them like I have, I don't know what I would have done without mine. I am still non the wiser with what's going to happen with me or when my operation is. My over all experience with the Bolton hospital up to now is so poor; that even giving this review a one star rating is far too nice and non reflective of it's services.
