After going to the gym to lose weight I noticed that I had developed an inguinal hernia I spoke to my GP who gave me a note for work NO heavy lifting he said.
Two weeks into work I was sent out on a heavy lifting job moving believe it or not gym equipment. This put me in hospital at the accident and emergency department. They was so worried about my hernia I nearly had to have an operation there and then. Finally the surgeon at the time managed to get it back in place on leaving they recommended me to go back to my GP and ask for an operation.
I was then sent a letter from the NHS to see Mr Dodds the surgical consultant. He told me that I did require surgery but at the same time put my mind at rest about what would happen. On the day at day case all of the staff from Mr Dodds to all the nurses and health care assistants and receptionist as well as the anaesthetist I found polite and caring and very very helpful. I felt at ease with the support and professionalism that I received.
Ten days later I feel like a new man. Have been back to see Mr Dodds who followed up the treatment by making sure all was well with me. He was happy with how I looked and felt but not as happy as me. Might I take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Mr Dodds and all of his amazing staff and also to the people who I didn't see the people that are in the back ground who rarely get recognized for their hard work.
I guess a lot of people out there think there are only a few people involved but I'm sure there are many more. Due to my job I know that there are a lot of people that work behind the scenes.
Thanks team.
