"Id rather endure the pain than visit Watford..."

About: Watford General Hospital

Put it this way, you go into hospital with the expectation that you are going to be cared for, and looked after. My expectations were completely annihilated throughout my stay at Watford General Hospital - Flaunden Ward. After being immediately referred to Watford by my own GP, i waited 12 hours in a chair trying to find out what was to happen to me and what had apparently caused my pain. Finally when i was admitted, blood tests were to be taken and the nurses had no idea what they were to do. They wrapped a piece of rubber around my arm, and once into my veins left the rubber to find blood pouring out all over my clothes leaking over the small bottle. "S*** i was meant to take it off" was their only reaction. When i arrived at the ward, i was told i wouldnt be able to eat or drink until further notice, and i didnt. I waited two days to go into theatre, without eating or drinking, and still unaware of what was happening. After my operation, i couldnt reach the end of my bed for it to be lifted up so i could be comfortable instead of being in pain, after ringing the buzzer, a nurse finally came to say "next time you can do it yourself", i laughed it off at first, couldnt do much whilst still being on anesthetics. Anyway, after 5 days i finally started to make a recovery even though the nurses had been so hostile, not all, some. Upon my discharge 6 days after i came in, i finally found out what had been wrong with me, it was the first time i was made aware and that had been by reading my discharge letter. Being 18, and new to this whole experience, I attempted to find out but was always met with a sugar coated answer. Worst possible experience of my life, I dont ever wish to go back. I was merely just a bed number those carers.
