I attended my appointment on 3rd March having previously been seen in Rheumatology until a couple of years ago. I had recently been re-referred by my GP. The good points are that despite it being a very busy clinic the reception staff were calm, polite and helpful. I also had pre-checks done by a student nurse who was lovely - kind and supportive throughout my appointment. However I am very unhappy about the way I was spoken to by the consultant - who was terse to the point of being rude, judgemental and uncaring. While I accept that Fibromyalgia is a frustrating thing to have to deal with (try living with it!) and I'm not disputing the things I was told I needed to do and the therapies that are going to be put in place - I left feeling upset, demoralised and unable to ask any of the questions that I had. I was not offered another appointment and to be honest if I had been I would not have attended again. However I feel the consultant I saw was terse to the point of being rude, had clearly already decided what was wrong as they had exercises on the screen ready and engaged in a conversation with my partner that I felt excluded me and talked about me as I wasn't even there! the tone was that of I should know what I should do, it was easy - just sit up and do exercises. They asked if I had seen a psychologist and I replied I hadn't I was asked why not? in a somewhat exasperated way
