"Reassured by manager, when mum was sad about losing her home"

About: Hill View (Eston)

(as a relative),

Mum went into the home for respite with a view to returning home after a fall. She loved the company, the care the staff gave her and the fact she did not feel vulnerable. The worst bit was giving her home up, when she realised she would not be able to live independently, but she came to terms with this after she had a chat with the manager, who said she could bring in her own bedroom furniture that she had bought only six months previous. The best bits again were the support the manager and staff gave me, her daughter. I have worked in a care home for 20 years, then suddenly I am on the other side of the fence feeling sad she is losing her home. It would be nice for mum if more outings were organised by the home, other than when I take her out, but otherwise I am happy with the home.
