I had an acute appendicitis, temperature of 39.7 and I’m a 64 year old disabled pensioner and widow.
I was rushed to hospital on a Sunday evening and had the urgent operation. The next day I had drips and 3 of the strongest antibiotics pumped into me. I felt so ill and the doctors seemed very concerned. Yet I was sent home on the following morning with what I thought so much haste. This made me feel embarrassed as no one asked if I was at home alone, even though I was given 2 antibiotics to go home with and I feel no thought was given as to how I was going to manage.
I then had a kidney infection on and an infection in my wound which I had to go to my daughter’s doctor to be looked at in Birmingham. She was astounded as to why I had been sent home so quickly. I was and still am very poorly and fragile. I felt I should have had after care even if only for a few days. I am now disappointed with the hospital for not providing this for me.
"Disappointed with no after care"
