In September I had a barium enema following a referral to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by my GP. When the results came back my GP was unable to say what further treatment would be given and referred me back to the consultant at the hospital and was told I need a colonoscopy.
Since then I have been waiting to find out when the colonoscopy will be carried out, also to know exactly what the barium enema showed.
I phoned the hospital in December when I was told I was on the ‘urgent’ list. Its 5 months since I was seen in September and I’m still waiting – if that’s what happens to urgent cases how long do non-urgent cases have to wait?
I was told the consultant was off sick – is there just one consultant? I was also told a nurse needs to be present when a colonoscopy is conducted but there is a shortage of nurses.
Nobody is listening or getting back to me. All this waiting time, absolutely shocking.
