I am writing this thank you on behalf of my daughter who attended the Maxillo-Facial Unit last week for a consultation regarding problems with her wisdom teeth. Although the Department was very busy, from the moment of arrival she could not have received better care. The reception team/dental nurses were kind and considerate and the two dental students who were with the doctor in their clinic made her feel at ease whilst demonstrating complete professionalism in taking her patient history. After her consultation with the doctor it transpired that due to a cancellation, it would be possible to extract one of the wisdom teeth that afternoon if my daughter wished. She was fully informed of all options but at no time felt under undue pressure to have the procedure carried out. However, after discussing it with the dental nurses, she agreed to go ahead. On returning in the afternoon, once again everyone (including the 2 dental students) were very kind and reassuring. I am also employed by the Trust, and feel that although on occasion we do hear negative comments from patients, it should also be recognised that there are departments who provide exceptional care. Thank you again to everyone in the Maxillo-Facial Unit, from the reception and administrative team, to the dental nurses and Consultants.
