After over a decade abroad, I returned to the UK and times had changed. So time for a new consultant rheumatologist, who has been very good, knowledgeable with a pleasant manner. It's sad that a short stay at Wrightington hospital seems to have become a thing of the past, nothing helped more to get you going again after a flare up than a fortnight there. The Blackburn hydrotherapy pool arrangements are a nightmare to attend when you are a working person, they don't know one day to the next if they can keep an appointment, the staff are lovely and do their best, but there is some sort of staffing/funding issue which makes the whole thing look unprofessional and unimportant. The NHS is a thing of beauty, greatest healthcare in the world. We need to protect it at all costs.
