"Great treatment in A&E / Minor Injury"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as the patient),

I was referred to A&E by NHS24 with severe knee pain following a run a few days earlier that seemed to be getting worse rather than better despite following RICE protocol.

I was seen very quickly in Minor Injuries where my leg was palpated and I was whisked off very efficiently for an x-ray. I was told it was probably cartilage damage, given advice to rest, an appointment with the fracture and orthopaedic clinic, and a pair of crutches all within 90 minutes - I was very impressed with how smoothly everything ran, and how very pleasant all the staff who dealt with me were.

Dear Pioden

I'm glad that you had such a positive experience during your recent visit to our A&E department. The team tries very hard to make sure they provide a quality service, and I will make sure that we share your comments above, with them.

I hope you make a speedy recovery.

Kind Regards

Susan
