"Very happy with the level of care "

About: Springwood

(as a friend),

I am very happy with the level of care my friend receives at Springwood. The staff have been most kind, caring, patient and have dealt quickly with any of my requests. Since she first arrived in May 2009, I feel has settled down more now. I’m sure the transition from her previous home was difficult for her. I would like her to get out and about, even if it is only a walk in your garden for a few minutes. Thank you to everyone.

Dear Piper395,

How lovely to hear that your friend is settled in and doing well. The transitional time is difficult indeed, leaving behind so much of our lives forever. A care home can never quite replace a full and happy life in our own house surrounded by friends and neighbours, all our own belongings, our own garden and so much more… What it can do is try to ensure that the activities of normal daily life continue. You so rightly mentioned a walk in the garden. We have gone to great lengths to create an interesting and inviting garden for residents to use. Daily walks on foot or in a wheelchair occur routinely, both in the garden and around to the shops. I welcome your comment as it reinforces our philosophy of care - that residents such as your friend need and enjoy such things as going outdoors. Making a simple walk or a short spin outdoors happen regularly is not a problem at Springwood. We are lucky to have gardens and staff and residents who value them. Thank you for driving home that message so eloquently.
