I do not think it is appropriate for a surgeon to reprimand another surgeon about what he had done during an operation when standing in a corridor right outside a bay of four beds containing pre-op patients, if a reprimand is needed - take him into an office. Doctors should again not discuss a patient in a corridor and say "she is off her trolley". Is this an accepted medical term now?

Thank you for taking the time to comment on NHS Choices. I am really concerned about your comment, you are right it is unacceptable for patient care to be discussed in public when they can be overheard by other patients. All our staff should treat patients with the utmost respect, this does not sound like an appropriate term for our staff to use and I can only apologise. I really want to investigate this urgently.
