I was having my 5th baby by a planned c-section. First there was a mix up with my planned delivery date... They booked a date when I was 12 wks pregnant then at my 36 wk chkup thy said I wasnt on the system so then they had to fit me in 2 wks before my booked date making that 3 wks before my due date which I wasnt happy about. I had my baby girl at Jessop Wing, I am a mother of 5 including this baby and this was my 5th c-section. I found the theatre staff extremely supportive and helpful, couldnt fault them at all they were always keeping me informed and looked after me well, they were a great team. However once I was moved to the ward, I found the aftercare wasn't great. I am not one to press the buzzer often as I feel like Im troubling people but I had to the first day or so at least a couple of times a day for my babys milk, after this I walked to reception and got it myself. The staff were busy and fed up most of the time. I hate hospitals but after the 5th c-section I needed the rest at the hospital, I was sent home after 3 days and this was my 5th and last c-section, I had no say in the decision of going home, I knew once home and now a mother of 5, I wouldnt be able to get the rest and once I returned home I became unwell. I think women if they want to, should be able to stay in hospital for longer and the staff in the c-section ward need to be more friendly, understanding, helpful and supportive.
