I recently attended as a day case for an umbilical hernia repair and was extremely impressed by the service I received. The nurse who admitted me, saw me through the process and oversaw my discharge was friendly, skilled, caring and professional, a credit to the hospital and the NHS. The surgeon, anaesthiastist and theatre staff were efficient and skilled whilst still being reassuring and the whole process was quick, easy and well-informed at all stages. I waited for a very short time following my scheduled admission time. I was prepared by the nurse, visited by the surgeon and the anaesthiastist in quick succession and off to theatre very shortly afterwards. When I came round from the operation I was looked after very attentively and whilst recovering on the day case ward was constantly monitored, checked upon and cared for by both my assigned nurse and many other ward staff. I was given a very welcome cup of tea and a sandwich and discharged promptly with verbal and written advice about my recuperation. The whole process was complete in under 5 hours. I very much doubt that private treatment costing a few thousand pounds would have been any better!
"An Excellent experience"
