Dreading the thought of having a Cataract Operation for the first time, I was incredibly relieved when I finally had one eye done yesterday morning. My experience yesterday is worthy of mention and praise for the Staff who attended on me in the Day Surgery Centre of the QE Hospital in King's Lynn. From the attendant Opthamology Consultant who operated on me, the pre-Op Sister and the nurse who was assigned to hold my hand, down to all the other theatre staff I just want to say a big thank you and was very touched by the care and devotion they showed me. They carried out their work very professionally, and as I was aware of what was going on around me, they seemed to work very efficiently and clinically. There were two Yr.3 Medical students from Norwich observing the op and the Consultant and the main Theatre Nurse seemed very efficiently doing their work while explaining procedures to the students. After the Op I was wheeled out to the waiting area where my wife was. I was offered a nice cup of tea and given details on pre-op care. Well done, everybody. You all were an incredible example of what is good about the NHS. I now wait for my other eye to be done, and I will have no fear or anxiety about going to the QE.
