"rude doctor"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

Went to A and E last night with a series of neurological symptoms, vomiting, stomach pain....the nurses were great but you could hear them complaining on 3 separate occasions about their jobs and the way they are treated in the corridors. When i was finally seen by a doctor 3 hours later i was talked down to, belittled, and treated like i was making the whole thing up in order to fast track my way to an MRI and neurology consultant. So unimpressed. Left in tears. Particularly disappointing as I had been sent to A and E by my GP and by 111 line.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for letting us know about your recent visit and I am sorry to hear that you found the staff attitude to be so poor on this occasion. Due to the nature of your concerns I have raised them with the A&E Sister for her to discuss with her staff. She has confirmed that all staff will be reminded at handovers about appropriate professional conversations within the clinical environment. The lead consultant has also spoken with the doctors about the manner they are perceived by patients during treatment. The sister would like to express her apologies that your treatment was below the standards we aspire to throughout the Trust. If you wish to discuss in more detail your experience please call our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01202 704886. Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
