"maternity nurses don't seem to care"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

I was in near 2 years ago whilst pregnant and gallstone eruption and they were annoyed with my husband asking for water, asking when a doctor would seem me etc and in the end I was told not to come back as I was only visiting from my then home Chesterfield, they said to drive back to my local hospital or not visit relatives in future and turfed at 11pm. I complained and told I would be called but they never called back. In December my sister had a baby after being unsuccessfully induced, 36 hours of labour later and no progress. The nurses ignored my sisters complaints for 36 hours until a new midwife came on the ward and found her leaking blood in her wee and having pre-eclampsia; then a faulty machine said her baby had 30mins to get out or else so an emergency csec. Whilst I'm glad they csec'd her (which our family had been asking for) they really scared her and had her in a right state by the time her daughter was born. I've moved back to the area and am worried about having a 3rd child as had 2 csecs for breach babies, will I have the same drama and inconsistent care/machinery?

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about this, please can I ask you to speak to your midwife about your concerns if you are currently pregnant, or you are welcome to ring our maternity matron Heather Gallagher for a chat? You can try Heather on 01724 282282 or email h.gallagher@nhs.net Regards, Sarah Mainprize
