"Worrying ward at Wansbeck"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

(as the patient),

I was transferred by ambulance to ward 22 at Wansbeck Ashington. I found the experience horrendous. From what I saw, there were very few staff, lots of the staff seemed miserable, and I even saw staff throw things at patients.

I saw people were asking for water and tea as they had been left for so long. I am concerned that this is not a one off, as I was in this ward in 2008 and it was bad then too. I heard young nurses talking explicitly about their night out. I was left for 2 1/2 hours without a pillow and nobody checked me. I suspect that they made a mistake with my notes. It goes on and on. You can get such fantastic care in the NHS, but some of these people on this ward seem to hate their jobs so much. I felt that at times this treatment borders on neglect, you lack dignity and respect. Shocking!
