Hello , my name is Phil.
During the summer of 1957 I was an 11 year old normal boy on a weeks school trip to Newlands camp with about 30 other schoolboys.
I developed a virus and was rushed by ambulance to Mary Hewetson Cottage Hospital as it was a suspected polio scare.
I was kept in an isolation room at the front of the hospital with a view of the pencil factory.
My parents rushed up to stay untill the end of the week when I was discharged, without serious reaction.
My stay was caring and friendly and really I know this might be a bit late but thank you!
I would love to revisit that hospital and little room with a view that helped me through those difficult days.
Phil
