When I attended the emergency department after a head injury in which I lost consciousness and had amnesia, I was triaged in the corridor by a nurse who didn't introduce themselves and even take my blood pressure. I waited for an hour and was then seen by a doctor. I had CT scan of my head and X-rays of my back and face done pretty quickly but then waited sitting in a chair in a corridor for three hours. Nobody came to check on me despite the fact that fell asleep, nobody came to give me any results until my wife asked for them and then heard a nurse ask a junior doctor to look up the results. You'd think that if there was envy concern to order a CT head, there'd also be enough conern to check the results in a timely fashion, if anything to make sure I wasn't bleeding away sitting in my chair! The doctor told the nurse the results and they in turn told us. The doctor who was sitting at their chair couldn't even be bothered to get up and speak to us, and nobody talked us through what it meant to have concussion and what we could expect. I know that as it happens I wa alright, but I did think this was very shoddy care and I would definitely not recommend this hospital to friends or family. I will not be attending again.
