"Mesh implant appears to be successful"

About: Western General Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Hi, I don't know if I just had a very good surgeon, was lucky or just lucky so far, but I had mesh implant 2 and 1/2 years ago at the WGH Edinburgh and has had no problems that I am aware of. I have back pain, but that is something I have had for years.

I am 56 and 2 previous operations for vaginal prolapse in about 1989 and 1999 (a burch colpo-suspension). These were not very sucessful and each eventually failed.

So far the mesh has been the most immediately successful and appears still to be doing it's job well. Hopefully I will not experience the issues that others clearly have.

It is lovely to hear that your mesh implant surgery has been successful. I will pass your comments on to the relevant service as I am sure they will also be pleased to hear your surgery has been a success. Thank you for taking the time to post.
