"concern over treatment of daughter's depression"

About: Bassetlaw Hospital Patient Opinion

(as a relative),

My daughter suffers from depression and often feels like she is in a deep hole and can't get out. She is receiving help from Bassetlaw hospital but it just isn't enough. The treatment always revolves around medication and new pills but the heart of the problem is not resolved. I feel that the people that who are helping her do not give enough help - they are not proactive enough in bringing her out of this 'deep hole.' I wish we, she especially, could see some light at the end of the tunnel, but at the moment we can't. Depression is such a huge problem affecting so many people across the country, and all their families subsequently. More should be done.

I know that the staff do what they can to help and that depression is persistent but I feel that they are a little dismissive and don't genuinely care whether my daughter gets better or not. They 'firefight' her symptoms. Meanwhile, my daughter is off work, miserable and terrified that she will lose her job - all adding to her stress.

I am pleased to be able to share my opinion with Bassetlaw through Patient Opinion because it is anonymous and won't affect my daughter's treatment negatively - she might not like me saying these things about her situation. I just want things to get better for her but it seems like her world is standing still.
