"Medical service is excellent but reception is far from satisfactory"

About: Warrington Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

We were visiting a theme park in Warrington and my child had an accident. With a sprained/broken ankle we had to go to Warrington General Hospital. I am thankful it was only a sprained ankle.

We entered A&E to book in . No queue just straight to the reception, where we were told, "have you got a ticket?" I wanted to know why but I was just told again, “get a ticket, sit down and wait to be seen." After finding the ticket machine and the passing of 40 minutes we were asked to go to reception to book in. All the personal details were taken but I feel not much interest was shown in what was actually wrong with the patient. I asked to see the Administration manager, she was behind the counter. Not making any progress I said I would make a complaint.

I have no complaints about the medical service, it was excellent, but the reception is far from satisfactory. In any other industry this would be viewed as unacceptable customer service. I think 40 minutes to see a Triage is totally unacceptable.
