Was present for the birth of my nephew, initial staff were great but the Anaesthetist who took over the care of my sister was rude unprofessional inconsiderate and lacked knowledge and understanding in doing her job! Repeatedly just kept trying to top up the epidural despite the fact that it was clear it needed re-siting. Had to be told what needed to be done was too busy wandering around talking about her holidays etc to care about patients interests and well being! Clearly needs retraining and to be re educated as regards manners and eticat also needs to undertake more accurate continuing professional education! An anaesthetist who cannot understand the basic principle of pain relief and why it may fail doesn't deserve to be working within the profession and especially be paid from public taxes and treating at risk patients! Also discussing the risks of an epidural should be undertaken prior to induction not when a patient is at the height of pain that isn't valid consent and this policy needs to be reviewed immediately! Also wearing jewellery especially storms rings is against cross infection policies and the trust policy needs to be reviewed. Also discussing with other colleagues her personal views is not ethical and puts patients at risk, matters need addressing urgently or I will be contacting the CQC and the GMC!!
