After a higher than normal PSA test result my GP referred me to Chorley urology dept.
After a very painful digital exam by a doctor (who I felt showed no concern for my discomfort or embarrassment) I was told I needed a biopsy. I did not go through with it. I researched the procedure myself as I was given no information at all by the hospital.
My concerns are echoed by many medical people. From my research I believe that a biopsy can cause blood infections, spread cancer if you have it in the prostate to other parts of the body, and other side effects with no benefit from the biopsy.
I understand that the sampling is too small and insignificant from a biopsy, and that a CAT or MRI scan is the safest method of diagnosing cancer.
