"My care on respiratory ward"

About: St James's University Hospital

I stayed for two weeks afters suffering a very bad excarbation while having a chest infection I found the staff very good although there didn't seem to be enough nurses on to cope with demand . I was upset after three days I was told I could go home despite of still feeling ill,I do understand you are more likely to be reinfected once you are feeling better but I certainly still felt ill and felt I still needed to be on hospital ,despite my telling the Drs this they still wanted to send me home, but I told them I wasn't well enough but as soon as I felt well enough I did come home ,please Drs it's the patient that knows how they feel so please listen to their concerns

Dear S Wells

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am sorry to read that you had a poor experience whilst in our care. Please accept my sincere apology that we did not deliver care that met your expectations.

I have passed your comments on to the matron and head of nursing for Cardiology and Respiratory for St James’s University Hospital, and ask that you contact the Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS) to discuss these issues further and in more detail to allow us to improve our services.

You can contact PALS on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively you can email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net
