I had reason to visit A&E late on Wednesday 18th February 2015 when it became obvious that what I thought was perhaps a cold was something stronger affecting my Asthma and compromising my breathing. It was my first ( and hope my only) visit as I live in SouthLakeland and was staying at my daughters near Leighton Buzzard after flying home from a weeks holiday in Turkey earlier that day. My first impressions I have to say, were not good in a pityingly small waiting area which was full, and no information about waiting times. However as my breathing was by now more laboured rapid and shallow I suspect I was fortunate to be part of some triage and didn't end up waiting as long as I feared. I was quickly given an assessment and put on the necessary meds to kick start my lungs. I am extremely grateful to such an efficient and reassuring bunch of obviously overworked professionals . They maintained a calm atmosphere talked me through everything and gave me confidence that I was in safe hands. I don't believe I could have had better treatment. They are unsung heroes who work tirelessly in blatantly difficult conditions. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. Barbara Newcombe
