"Unhappy with treatment of my sister-in-law at Whipps Cross Hospital A&E"

My wife's sister attended our wedding in June and she is from South East Asia. We went to the Whipps Cross Hospital A&E's department in one afternoon and has been asked to wait for a clinician. After approximately ten minutes the clinician asked what's wrong with her. She told him that after traveling to Europe for a week, her face, hands, body and legs feel numbness and hardly to speak and walk at the moment and have fever for few days. She was suspecting a minor stroke but the clinician replied saying "this is a A&E department, you should seek your GP around your area for this minor problem".

I felt angered and frustrated and warned him this is serious enough as she has not eaten anything for few days and he should bare the responsibility if anything happen to her. Then he gave us a green card and we have waited for two hours before seeing the doctor.

After explaining what happen to the doctor, he said this was because of tiredness and prescribed some painkillers. I couldn’t believe that as I thought there should be at least some basic scanning or blood testing. Next day, she went back to East Malaysia, she can't speak, eat or walk properly and been in intensive care for two weeks. The doctor there suspected she has had a stroke and they have done a thorough investigation.

The result came out and confirmed that her nerves system has been infected badly and required several injection of expensive liquid (£11k). Luckily, she has recovered now and did not accept the Whipps Cross doctors advise otherwise we won't see her again in this world.
