"I had an appt at the Princess Anne with the..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

I had an appt at the Princess Anne with the obstetrician and heart consultant at 3:15 but was called a day before the appt to come in to Southampton general for an echocardiogram. I was already quite anxious about coming to the hospital as it's an hours drive and I had 2 small children with me, Which I told the secretary but they were adamant I should have this appt also so I agreed to go in for 1:30. I went to the department they told me to and the receptionist had no record of the appt and sent me to another department. They also had no record of the appt and told me the appt was at the Princess Anne. I then had to quickly dash over as it was already my appt time by this point and once again there was no record of the appt. So basically, I drove an hour with 2 small children and heavily pregnant to be dragged around the hospital for an appt that hadn't even been booked. In the end I didn't attend my 3:15 appt because we had waited so long we were all very fed up. I've had no call of apology and not even an attempt to rebook the appt, which would of automatically been cancelled because I refuse to go to that hospital again.

I am very sorry to read of your unnecessary journey to Southampton General and Princess Anne Hospitals. If you would like to contact Patient Support Services on 023 81206325 we will gladly investigate for you regarding the appointment and establish if you do still require an appointment. If you do not wish to do this then it would be advisable to discuss the necessity of the appointment with your midwife at the earliest opportunity.
