A relative of mine was in for an operation. Thankfully her surgeon was concerned and kept an eye on her - and moved her to a different hospital after she got a post op infection. It just feels run down. The staff that are there are OK but the equipment is failing - the blood pressure machine on the ward was broken and one of the nurses didn't know how to use a manual tool (balloon pump), which is ridiculous. The bed height and angle couldn't be adjusted as the mechanism was broken. Her drip bags kept being left attached even though they were empty and she wasn't provided with pain relief or washed down properly after her operation. I like to think the staff that are there are doing their best, pretty much, but with faulty or broken equipment and not enough people it feels like they're getting de-motivated and frustrated and they can't give the care that I assume they joined the nursing profession for. I was also told that the toilets weren't exactly up to standard and that the food was entirely hit and miss. This hospital badly needs some money spending on it.
