"Hip impingement"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I paid for my operation, £8000 and then 8weeks flat bed rest. That was three years ago. I can still walk without a limp, can turn over in bed without waking and sit at my desk all day ( I took up kneeling for a while! )

I have been skiing, picked up my kids, canoed down rivers and gardened. Sadly breast stroke and turning compost bring on pain.

Painkillers don't really give you mobility, nor restful sleep.

Hi Angeline!

Thanks for taking the time to write to us following your recovery!

We are so pleased to hear that you are now able to do all the things that you were restricted from doing, especially spending time with your children.

Please be assured that we will of course let the staff within the Musculoskeletal Services know of your poisitive recovery.

Kindest Regards

Leanne Mincher

Update posted by Angeline (the patient)

It wasn't done at way on the NHS. It was done at Spire. NHS wouldn't fund it despite my 26 years of service.
