I almost collapsed on my own front door step and was rushed, by ambulance, to Lincoln County Hospital.
I have ischaemic heart disease and severe aortic stenosis. I am awaiting TAVI surgery at The Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.
The care I received in the ambulance, in A&E and in Stow Ward was exceptional.
No amount of money spent on private care could have bought me better treatment.
I was also investigated for CPE (CARBAPENEMASE-PRODUCING ENTEROBACTERICEAE) as I had recently spent time in French hospitals.
All of the staff were brilliant, from the time that the paramedics picked me up until the time I was discharged.
Don't let me hear anyone be disparaging about the NHS.
Spend a few hours in A&E and see how hard they work.
Spend a few hours with ambulance crew and see what they do on a daily basis.
Spend a few hours on Stow ward and see what those lovely people do.
I wish that I had written names down, but I could hardly speak, let alone write.
The paramedics were Emma & Matt,
On A&E I can't remember names of the staff there.
By that time, I could (only just) remember my own name.
It is important that we let them know that NOT everyone takes them for granted.
On Stow Ward, Staff Nurse Nicola Hine was "kindness, personified".
I wish that I could remember the names of other staff who looked after me.
We have a health service that we should all be proud of.
I am very proud of it.
"All of the staff were brilliant"
