"Endoscopy"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

I had 3 endoscopies and a manometry ph test done at hemel hospital last year. I had no idea what to expect and opted for sedation. The nurses were very kind and reassuring, and each time the procedure went well with no after effects. Going i to the 'theatre' was quite daunting but the nurses chattered away to me, complimenting my suntan! And once they got me comfortable the procedure began, and the next thing i knew I was waking up in recovery. Unfortunately I think il be seeing a lot more of the nurses there due to my condition, but when you walk into a department and are met by a very sweet and sociable receptionist, who instantly puts you at ease, it makes each visit less difficult. My manometry test was a very uncomfortable experience, although the lady doctor doing it was so kind! At no point did i feel she was in a rush, although I'm sure she had plenty of patients to see, and after around 40 minutes she finally got that tube up my nose! I believe it's quite a straightforward process in general but I have a very small nose, so don't be put off if you need one doing! So all in all i found each visit to be not half as scary as my mind was telling me it would be. The only issue i had was the parking. People taking up 2 spaces so their cars don't get damaged, and not enough spaces. The car park spaces could do with being repainted, so only 1 car per space.
