Greencroft Medical Centre South
I had developed wheezing, cough and chest tightness at home on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning after what I thought was the 'cold' starting Monday. I phoned my local doctors surgery at 8am and spoke to the receptionist who arranged a nurses triage callback. The nurse, Heather, phoned back roughly an hour later and by then my symptoms had slightly worsened and had shortness of breath.
Heather was very good on the phone and realised that there was an issue and make arrangements for me to come down to the surgery as soon as I was able. On arrival to the surgery I was seen within 5 minutes and Heather started her assessment. She took some vital observations and got assistance from a Trainee Doctor who carried out her assessment and arranged some nebulisers and medication. Dr Donachie then attended and further assessment the situation and advised that due to no improvement after the treatment I had received at the doctors, that hospital admission and ambulance were necessary.
During my experience Heather, the Trainee Doctor (who's name I cannot remember) and Dr Donachie remained calm, and put me at ease despite my urgent medical situation, and were professional and demonstrated excellent teamwork together. They had managed to write a letter/notes for me to take to the hospital whilst they waited for the ambulance to arrive. I was very pleased for their efforts and response to my situation and for that, would like to express my thanks and gratitude.
"Excellent team working in an emergency situation"
